TRU World News:
Updates from the international division of Thompson Rivers University

TRU’s International Athletes Reach New Heights

Two of TRU’s international athletes are in the spotlight this month.

Kevin Tillie, a first-year volleyball player from Cagnes-sur-Mer, France, was named CIS rookie of the year at the All-Canadian banquet at TRU’s Grand Hall on Wednesday. He is the first WolfPack player in any sport to garner a major CIS award.

His teammate, Behlul Yavasgel, has worked all year to raise extra funds to bring his mother, Aynur, from Istanbul, Turkey to watch this month’s national championships in Kamloops. This will be Aynur’s first opportunity to see her son play since 2004. It will also be the last weekend of CIS play for Behlul. For the last five years, Behlul has been studying and playing volleyball at TRU. His eligibility to play as a Canadian university athlete will expire after this national tournament.

Good luck and congratulations Behlul and Kevin! Go WolfPack!
